Making your stay extra special
Do let us know if we can organise flowers, chocolates, champagne etc. to make your special occasion even more memorable. We will always do our best to oblige.
Rye is a Medieval Town and as such was designed for Horse & Carts. Nevertheless, and despite popular opinion, parking is not difficult when visiting us.
On Rye High Street
Free parking bays run the length of the High Street. It is limited to one hour during the daytimes (10am to 5pm). Parking is then unrestricted from 5pm til 10am the next morning.
The downloadable town map also shows the location of all the other car parks in Rye. Some are run by the council, others by private parking companies, so costs do vary.
Our parking wardens are sympathetic to guests checking in to establishments on the High Street. If no parking is immediately available, use the double-yellow lines directly opposite us and leave your hazard lights on. Help is always at hand to bring your luggage indoors.
Recommended Car Parks
1) The Cattle Market Car Park
Vehicle access is on Rope Walk, but the pedestrian exit is at the corner of Station Approach and Cinque Ports Street. It is less than 300 metres from the pedestrian exit to the White Vine House. It is highlighted in yellow on the downloadable map above. Costs £1.50 per day.
The car park is used as a market every Thursday, from around 4.30am to 4.30pm. Do not leave your car there overnight on Wednesdays - it will get blocked in by the market stalls!
2) The Station Car Park
Entrance on Station Approach, highlighted in orange on the downloadable map.
A weekly pass for the Station Car Park is £9.00, or £2.50 per day. We can even purchase these on your behalf so the ticket is ready for collection upon your arrival.
Free Car Parking
This is available to White Vine House guests, free of charge. The parking is off-street behind our ‘staff accommodation building’. It is a half-mile walk – ten minutes on foot or two minutes in a car. Guests are advised to check in first and then drop their cars off. Please let us know if you would like to avail yourself of this as we will need details of your vehicle.
As well as the two Family Room here, all our double rooms come with enough floor space for at least one cot.
We have on-site two cots, two high chairs and two 'baby-cams'. These are baby monitors but will transmit sound and a live video to the handset. They have been tested to ensure that the signal will reach the dining rooms from any of the guest bedrooms.
Just let us know if you'd like to use these when you book as we can only reserve them for guests on a 'first come, first served' basis.
We will be happy to organise an earlier breakfast time for you if your children are still at that stage in life where they get up before you do!
Do feel free to ask us to look after your 'baby-food' etc. Our microwave oven is a Category E, 900 watts so please let us know how long it should take to heat up baby-food, milk etc. Naturally we also have some baby-friendly bowls, cups and spoons.
However we do not have sterilising equipment on site.
These items and services are provided free of charge but no warranties are given.
In addition, we do keep a pair of portable fold-out beds. These are charged at £25 per person per night, inclusive of VAT and an additional breakfast. They will easily fit into rooms two, three and four
Early and Late arrivals
Check in is from 3pm, and check out is at 11am.
We will always do our best to accommodate early and late arrivals - just let us know ahead of time and if we can, we will. We do not charge extra for this.
If we can't check you in early we will of course accept your luggage and place it in your room for you. We need the rooms back from 11am for house-keeping, but it's no trouble for us to look after your luggage if you want to spend more time in Rye.
During weekdays, breakfast is available between 8am and 9am.
On weekends and Bank Holidays, breakfast is available between 9am to 10am.
On any day of the week we would be delighted to provide an earlier breakfast for you if you are able to let us know the night before.
Special Dietary Requirements
Please advise us of any gluten or lactose intolerances when you book. We should be able to provide appropriate alternatives for you.
Regrettably, we are no longer able to accept pets; guide dogs excepted.
